With our marriage in such a state, celebrating valentine’s feels … awkward? Yet, we do love each other – whatever that actually means.
I gave my husband two cards, just because – simply because I always do.. I wrote hopeful words in them saying that I still have faith in us.
He gave me a card with unicorns (eunuchorns) on the front; inside he wrote that he’s still very confused about how to define or relationship, but he wrote “I love you”.
It is important to hear (and read) those words from time to time.
Thinking about what love means to me; it’s not just a nice squidgy feeling inside, although that is a big part of it. It’s the caring about what happens to somebody, caring about their happiness, finding comfort in their presence and wanting to be comfort to them.
Its little things, like gently telling your husband that he has his body warmer on inside out and the label is showing!
I have been messaging my friend Tacitus today. I like keeping in touch with my eunuch friends. That feeling of belonging to a community of people like me is important to me.
Tonight, I shall be cooking a lamb loin fillet in butter, fondant potatoes, and sugar snap peas for a special tea!
