The big day

Christmas eve

We played table tennis at work for an hour before we all bunked off for the day. It’s really lovely having day with the boss’s boss’s boss. No work, just a bit of fun. I was hopeless. Nobody cared!

My husband was looking a bit glum, so I asked if he’d like to talk. Christmas is exceptionally difficult for him; unlike me, he’s has no treasure trove of golden memories to sustain him. Too many of his Christmases have been pain-filled.

Listening was all I could do.

Afterwards, we started making preparations for Christmas dinner. Roasting chestnuts in the air fryer (make sure you cut the skins in several places and put on for five minutes). Peeling and chopping veg for the roast. Making a cheese sauce for the cauliflower cheese. And making the stuffing.

I felt tired, but happy. I also had a migraine. Such is life!

Windy

Last night my tummy ached quite a bit and I was full of trapped wind. I was also hot and sweaty. That doesn’t feel like an expected side-effect of trapped wind.

Getting up I am tired and headachy.

Things downstairs eased after a bathroom motion – hopefully that’s going to make Christmas dinner a more attractive proposition.

Trash TV

One of the treats of Christmas is watching the kind of children’s film that I’m not usually able to watch the rest of the year; while my husband is pottering around the kitchen, I’m watching Minions and pissing myself laughing.

Yesterday, I watched The Grinch.

I love finding my inner child – or sometimes my inner idiot and just being the simplest form of myself that I can find.

Lunch

As usual for Christmas dinner, there was too much to eat, and I was in no mind to stuff myself into helping uncomfortable given the way my tummy has been. Besides, what I’m don’t eat well go into the bubble and squeak tomorrow!

My husband had dinner a wonderful job of cooking! The sprouts with chestnuts were to die for.

After, we cleaned up together. The dog went bananas at the wonderful smell … and knowing that her dinner bowl is full of lovely grub!

Strictly

Mandatory watching on Christmas day is the Strictly Come Dancing special. It’s great light-hearted entertaining, we talk about the show while it’s on, it has golden memories with my mum, and it’s just Christmas.

Of note this year was the first drag queen. A runner up in the Ru Paul Drag Race UK, but has done well for herself – including landing the Strictly Christmas special. She won!

Presents

Exchanging presents is one of my favourite parts of Christmas. I thoroughly enjoy buying for my husband. This year’s top present was a pair of custom Converse. He was blown away!

Mission accomplished!

He got me an enormous pile of wonderous gifts, include sexy underwear! I think we may be moving towards expressing ourselves in the bedroom soon … nudge nudge wink wink.

There were sexy pajamas and a pair of cool Pride trainers.

I also had my first pair of “uncle” socks.

I feel deeply happy this Christmas.

We also buy for the dog, which is enormous fun for her and us.

She and I are out for her evening walk.

Merry Christmas my friends.

Glad you had a good time. Your husband is a lucky guy. I have no good memories to draw on either coming from an abusive home. But my ex husband wasn’t supportive. He didn’t want to listen. Only accuse me of trying to bring him down.

I am sorry to hear that; your husband missed a genuine opportunity to create good memories with you and rather blamed you for feeling the way you do.
