A Response from somebody at the Eunuch Archive

Somebody from the Eunuch Archive reached out to me after I scattered-gunned the internet with my last post. He cannot unban me (that’s not within his power), he is also concerned about his position with the EA; it sounds as though there is some conflict within the group regarding the sites direction. However, he apologies to me and forwarded his answers to my post – which he had originally approved only for some other admin to un-approve it and delete me. I appreciated the time he has taken to respond to my question, and quite frankly, I think they are bloody good answers and would have offered me some reassurance. There are clearly some good people at the EA, and I really hope that they win out in the end.

This is what he wrote, I have paraphrased his answers to protect his anonymity:

I authorized your initial post since it was your first contribution. It was submitted to a publicly accessible and monitored forum, hence the delay in its appearance. Administrative approval was necessary to prevent spam and harassment on open forums. I’ve included the content from your other post to avoid duplication.

I have some questions about the Eunuch Archive, if anyone fancies having a go at answering them:

– What is the purpose of the Eunuch Archive? Is there a mission statement or T&Cs document somewhere?

While it may be somewhat general, The EA aims to furnish information relevant to the current subject and prevent individuals from making serious and potentially life-threatening errors, such as attempting self-castration or not fully grasping the enduring implications of significant body modifications. Although there isn’t an official mission statement available, the implicit guideline is to avoid engaging in disrespectful behaviour, disputes, or harassment.

– How are posts approved? What is the process for removing a post or appealing against a post’s removal? Who is responsible for censoring posts? What criteria is used for this?

Entries that necessitate approval are sanctioned if they align with the relevant topics in their respective forums. Registered members can expect their posts to appear promptly in other forums. The decision to remove posts rests solely with the Admin who observes them, as only Admins possess the authority to take such actions. The criteria for removal include posts that are significantly off-topic, involve prohibited political content, or are otherwise offensive. However, the assessment of offensiveness may differ depending on the individual who reviews and evaluates the content.

– Who are the admins? Are they governors or servants? How are they appointed and to whom do they answer?

There is a single individual who owns the site, and the rest of us are merely employees. The response from the Admin is directed towards Kristoff.

– Does the Eunuch Archive have outside affiliations? Is the name “Eunuch Archive” used to endorse any external organisation? (eg does the EA support any particular academic or political institution?)

The EA was previously associated with BME, known as the “Body Modification Ezine.” A few years ago, the current version of the site separated from BME and gained independence. Over the years, The EA has changed ownership multiple times, with Kristoff currently holding the position. Unlike in the past, we are no longer affiliated with or governed by any other entity. Our allegiance is solely to ourselves, and we do not endorse or support any external entities.

– How is the Eunuch Archive funded? Is it funded from external donations or only by member contributions?

The Archive’s funding comes from the personal funds of the Admins and voluntary donations from users. Donating is entirely optional, and there is no obligation to do so. Historically, the primary contributors have been Talula, Jesus, Kristoff, and Paolo.

– Does the EA employ any professionals, or is it managed by non-professional volunteers?

The Admins are highly educated professionals in specific fields. I believe it’s unnecessary to mention our degrees or specialties unless someone explicitly requests that information.

– How does the Eunuch Archive manage its public relations policy? How it promote itself? Is the primary means of acquiring new members organic?

We don’t actively engage in advertising. Historically, Google hasn’t indexed us, or at least, didn’t do so previously. Our primary method of promotion is through word of mouth.

I tried to post this earlier today, but it just disappeared, so I had to remember what I’d written. I guess that was a glitch in the system or my browser!

You made a post on a forum with moderation. Until now, only you have seen it.

Your other post:

A few questions on the nature of the Eunuch Archive I was wondering whether somebody might enjoy answer for me –

Are there any “official” documents that describe the purpose of the archive, and on what it is acceptable to discuss in this forum?

Political discussions are not permitted. There’s a pinned post specifically addressing the topic of abortion, which was once a highly contentious issue here and had to be prohibited.

Are there any documents on how unsuitable articles are identified and the decision making and appeal process by which they are removed?

No, the decision lies entirely with the Admins.

How are the admins selected and how long do they retain their positions for? Are they governors or servants? Are they volunteers?

We are volunteers. Kristoff is the owner of the site, and the rest of us contribute on a voluntary basis.

    How is the archive funded?

Funding comes from Admins’ personal contributions and member donations. There is no obligation to donate. We refrain from displaying ads, and most importantly, we do not sell your information.

What outside organisations does the EA have an association with?

We don’t have formal affiliations with any particular entity, but one member. can furnish details regarding our survey data, including who accessed it and for what purposes.

EA is administerd by a few very minded personals. My account was also banned after one post.

They treated the site as their own private site since they funded the site.
