The trouble with having had a heart attack is an increase in, which I hope is, hypochondria!
Yesterday, when doing a bit of DIY, and without being particularly energetic, I had to stop and sit down because I thought I was going to black out. It passed, but it’s somewhat disturbing.
Today at the gym, lightheadedness was a real problem. Although I did manage to do what I set out to do. Again: alarming – especially since in hindsight I think that the lightheadedness I was getting before the heart attack was a warning.
And this week I’ve had a return of migraines. With migraines there are other possible triggers aside from the heart – emotional stress and sensory overload being big causes…
But that’s three this week that worry me … is this me catastrophising again, or is my body sending up a flare?
Perhaps I need to check in with the doctor again just to reassure myself.
I called the surgery for an appointment. And I described the symptoms to the receptionist.
She asked “how can I summarise that for the doctor?”
“Write ‘the patient is exhibiting signs of hypochondria’”
And she replied “how do you spell that?”
We both nearly wet ourselves laughing!
I am booked in for Wednesday next week, after some blood tests I have booked for the same day.
