Bang! Woof! Kindness!

Another day trying to do nothing.

But I think I’m begining to improve – or at least I would be…

After a gentle morning of decaffe coffee and muesli, followed by a rest, then brushing my teeth and showering without a rest, I sat in the garden watching the fish play in the pond.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

It’s the front door.

Woof! Woof! Woof!

That’s the dog.

“I know! I know!” I say to the dog.

“I’m coming! I’m coming!” I say to the door.

I’m not expecting any deliveries, but the wonderful thing about Royal Mail (if it was them) is that they knock and vanish without a trace other than the red card declaring that you were out and you’ll have to go to the sorting office to pick up whatever it was.

I opened the door. It was our nextdoor neighbour.

“Hi, I have some viewings today,” she said. She’s a pretty little thing, herself coming out of a breakup. “I hope you don’t mind, but I’m letting you know in case you were planning any DIY.”

I didn’t mind, but said that I’d not be doing anything since I was signed off work sick.

Then I had to have a lie down – I was out of breath rushing from the garden to the front of the house.

A couple of hours later…

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The front door again.

Woof! Woof! Woof!

The dog telling me that it’s the front door again.

I rush downstairs and open the door, there was nobody there except a huge cardboard box. I brought it in the house. It could have contained a small person, but it was light.

“Flowers!” I thought.

And so it was!

More accurately a beautiful plant! A gift from the office!

My heart is going crazy again, and the kindness could kill me – but I think I’ll be ok, and this beautiful pink lily is a delight!

Actually not a lily, but an Anthurium
