Testosterone, Told Off: The Endocrinologist Calls Back

Today I had a call from hospital – the endocrinologist who originally dealt with me was calling regarding my latest testosterone test results (they were high – 31.54nmol/L).

She asked about my treatment routine, I told her about the four days a week with two pumps and three days a week with one pump. She asked if that treatment plan had come from my GP.

“No, you’d suggested that I start at one every other day, then move to one a day, then if I felt good, to move to two a day,” I said.

She double checked that I’d applied the gel enough time before the blood test for it to have been correctly absorbed.

Yep.

She wants me to go down to one pump a day, then to arrange another blood test shortly before my next endocrinology appointment in September.

I wasn’t upset that she’d dialled my dose down – I had already decided that was the right thing to do. I was more impressed that she’d called me back!

Despite what she said, I’ll still double pump on the days where it looks like I might get lucky.

I guess that means that I am on pump for the foreseeable future then! 🤣
