Since the half marathon a couple of days ago, my body has been surprisingly achy. I figured that it was just the heat of the day of the run, but it seems that it was something else.
Yesterday I started coughing. Dry coughs, nothing indicating the glamour or drama if consumption, but not particularly bothersome either.
Then, last night, while we were watching the telly (a Eurovision semi-final), I felt terribly cold. I didn’t stay up for the results as it was a “school night”, but I felt so tired that I’d have been going to bed early anyway.
In bed I felt so hot. I was tossing and turning all night. Then I was cold. Then I was hot.
Sometimes I thought I might be sick. However, while I was in bed, the coughing, mercifully, stopped.
I went and fetched myself a bottle of water because I felt so thirsty. I didn’t feel very steady on my feet.
I wondered whether I should take a paracetamol for the fever. It wasn’t until my head started to ache that I decided to take some. That almost made me throw up!
Maybe thirty minutes after taking the pills, I began to sweat. The bed was soaked!
Clearly I wasn’t going into the office today. However, is left my laptop there yesterday, so I don’t have an option to work from home today. Probably a good thing.
The sweats and the fever have passed. The cough doesn’t seem to be too bad – it only troubles me if I move.
My head aches and I’m starting to feel hungry – which is why, at nearly midday, I simply had to get up.
I did try to do a COVID test, but the kit was now so old that there was no fluid in the fluid bottle thing, so so the horrible scraping around the back of my throat and nose was for nothing.
I suppose I shall just have to sit this one out … in the garden … with the dog … in the glorious sunshine!
