Tonight we had two interviews for potential couples counsellors. The first at 5:00 p.m. straight after work, the second one hour later.
The first one we spoke to was by telephone it wasn’t a very good connection.
The first has an office probably thirty minutes away by car across the water, big down side to that is we both know that if we need space after the session that my husband could not make his own way home easily. There is also a risk that if the sessions overwhelm me I may not be able to drive!
She said that she had some lgbtq+ experience but didn’t go into a lot of detail about it.
The second one is about 30 or so minutes walk from the house, which is much better for us.
She also had quite a range of experience with lgbtq+ relationships of all types including polyamorous! She seemed to indicate that she had worked with thruples before!
This call was via zoom which was better than the phone.
I touched upon my ASD traits, but I didn’t go into them too much detail as I didn’t want to hijack the call. Hubby had also suggested that we have an initial one to one session with the councillor, partly so that we can go over our individual issues and requirements.
It helped enormously that the husband had prepared a set of questions for us to ask.
Afterwards he seemed a little irritated that I’ve mentioned ASD and accused me of rewriting history. I said that I don’t intend to use ASD to rewrite history just to lend understanding to problems that we have had. For me, autism is less a problem and more of an answer.
But I’m exhausted now!
We have another one tomorrow.
