Since Christmas my tummy has been feeling a bit unstable, so about a fortnight ago I saw the doctor, who asked me for some stool samples.
A few days ago I got a phone call from the doctor who gave me the results of the tests: I have a stomach infection and she prescribed some antibiotics.
At today’s cardiac rehab I told the nurse about the antibiotics … and she said that I couldn’t do the class because my body was fighting an infection and they couldn’t risk overloading it.
I felt quite disappointed. I enjoy doing exercise – its an important part of my mental wellbeing. Again I am told that I am fragile and vulnerable.
But it was also an opportunity to talk about the anxiety that I’ve been feeling lately. She was very sweet and listened, then went and got me some information about anxiety, depression, and mental health after a heart attack. Apparently it’s very common after a cardiac event.
I am taking Friday off to veg about and do nothing much.
