One year

Two things happened a year ago this month. One of them a year ago today.

It was on this day last year that I had a heart attack! What an unexpected adventure that proved to be. It took months for me to really accept just how poorly I was. I am only now starting to feel a bit of my old energy coming back.

To start with I pushed myself too hard … I could not get my head around what “rest” actually meant. I even booked in for the Southampton Half Marathon in May earlier this year – it was the rehab team who gently persuaded me that it was not a good idea.

I didn’t know if I would be well enough for three weeks in Spain. Only on one occasion when there did I feel a bit – how shall I say it? – lacking in confidence that my health was up to it.

And then there was the drains saga. Still not really over as I slowly repair the damage done when repairing them – and some of the work is very physical.

However, next May I will be running in the Southampton Half Marathon!

And a year ago this month, my husband – now my ex – moved out. I miss him. We are trying to be friends. I’m also glad that I no longer have to live with the daily stress and anxiety – I didn’t know how stressed and anxious I really was until it wasn’t there any more.

We divorced in June.

I still love him. I really want to hold him.

He has been through a lot this year. He has been diagnosed with autism and emphysema. He is having brain scans to investigate his declining memory.

I fear the worst for him.
