I took the afternoon off work so that I could enjoy more time with Funiculosus. He was coming over to spend the night so that we could go for a cycle in the New Forest and still have time for some rope play – and he was cooking dinner!
Before starting tea, he wanted to pop to a local supermarket that specialises in middle and far eastern food in order to buy a spice mix that he particularly enjoyed. I don’t often go into that market … but when I do I always buy tasty things that I don’t really need. This was no exception.
On the way home we passed my ex, who was in a world of his own. I tapped him on the shoulder and gave him a hug and asked him to dinner on Saturday night and that I was going to cook him his favourite paella recipe. As I might expect, he asked me to ask him again tomorrow – he doesn’t like things being sprung on him. I understand and am happy to accommodate – I’m kind of the same myself!
We didn’t say much, but I did indicate that I was with my friend Funiculosus.
As always, I feared that my ex would struggle with it – but I have to start trusting that he will be ok with things.
Back home, Funiculosus and I played for a while before dinner. It is amazing how quickly I can drop into subspace these days. He knows exactly how to touch me, where to breath on me, which scents and textures will elicit the response he wishes to see – and I want to respond in a way that pleases him best … we both want to satisfy the other’s needs during our play together. It is completely reciprocal.
After a bit of play, he cooked dinner for us (yes, this was my house, but he wanted to cook for me). Mushroom tagliatelle – I am so lucky to have a qualified chef cooking for me – and teaching me what to do! It didn’t take long and was delicious! Topped with a bit of pancetta.
I had bought a DVD for us to watch based on something he’d said to me about loving the Village People movie when he was young. I put it on without telling him what it was, but the secret didn’t keep: he guessed it within seconds!
We talked about the film as it was on. I had a crush on Steve Gutenberg, he’d crushed on Caitlyn Jenner (at the time she was known to us as Bruce). Back then she had a gorgeous glory trail and the perfect chest hair (question for my trans readers: what is the correct/kindest way to refer to somebody pre-transition here?)
The film was pure cheese – delicious and camp and very gay … but was anybody mentioned as being gay in the film? I am not certain! I shall have to watch it again and look out for that.
But it also got me thinking about the Village People. Funiculosus said that the lead singer (the policeman) was stright, the rest were gay. The film was released in 1980.
How many of the survived the AIDS crisis?
We didn’t know.
Wow! It seems like all six of the men in the film survived the AIDS crisis! The only one who died was Glenn Hughes (Leatherman), that was in 2001 of lung cancer, not AIDS. But one of those who created the Village People, Jacques Morali, wasn’t so fortunate – he died of AIDS-related complications in 1991.
