Funiculosus, my rope master and puppy daddy (these are all the same person!) was quite insistent about picking me up from the airport when I got back from Spain. He missed me. I missed him – so I relented and gave him the flight details.
“Uh. You said you were coming into Gatwick; this is a Heathrow flight!” He said.
I thought I’d booked for Gatwick because the trains were a little easier from there to Southampton. It’s just as well he checked!
I don’t think it would have fazed me to have arrived at the wrong airport, but it would have confused me in Madrid when I went to check-in.
I said that I’d let him know when it’s collected my bags because that can take a while, but he was already in the airport when I landed – he was just too excited!
And seeing him as I exited customs? Perfect!
He was so excited and chatted all the way home. I enjoy listening to him, but it wasn’t as though I didn’t get a word in because he did ask me about the holiday and listened when I spoke.
On the way home we bought some fish and chips and ate them at the table.
Afterwards we cuddled for a bit – does it get any better than that? I was happy to be home.
After he’d gone, I realised I was ready for the quiet of an empty house. We’d caught up, we’d had our cuddle, and now my social battery was finally allowed to recharge.
Tomorrow the darling doggy comes home!
