Just a little hiccough today.
After buying some provisions, then stopping at the bookshop cafe for breakfast, I went for a walk in the woods again. I must have taken a wrong turn because about ninety minutes later I ended up back in the town – and it was too hot to try again.
After sitting in various shady spots to read, I realised something quite surprising: I was bored!
In this beautiful little town, with its castle (which I couldn’t look inside), it’s gorgeous cathedral, and peaceful aspect to the whole town, I was bored!
I feel awful admitting that.
Perhaps that’s why I’ve always thought heaven sounds rather boring. If everything has already happened, what’s left to discover?
I waddled back to my hotel room to check on tomorrow’s travel details because I know it’s an earlier start and there’s a coach and a train involved.
I looked at the date that I’d booked. 28th June. Today is the 26th June. I’d booked transport for the wrong day!
My heart sank.
My options were to either ask the hotel for another night. Given that I’ve just admitted to myself that I’m bored, I don’t want to do that.
Or change my travel times.
Anyway, changing the date cost me about €15, so the bank wasn’t broken.
Now I’m going to have a nap. If the flies will let me.
