Between Air, Sea, and Spirit

I am always drawn to the sea.

My sea, near my current home and near to my ancestral home, are tidal: beating a rhythm in time to the moon that reminds me of eternity and mortality both.

Here, on the edge of the changeless Mediterranean, I am minded of the same thoughts.

But now a new thought occurs to me because here at the sea edge is something magical: three worlds meet!

The land, which my feet touch.

The water, which washes my legs.

And the air, which I must breathe.

The swirling waves around my ankles, and the swirling alcohol in my brain from a sangria and a mojito.

How many gods bless me tonight?

Zeus above, Poseidon washing me, Gaia supporting me, and Dionysus liberating me.

Hades, I am not ready to meet yet …
