Brown eyes at breakfast

I went to bed about 10 last night. The dorm was busy with people getting ready for a night out. A couple of people were waiting for lights out and some quiet to get some sleep.

Having realised that one of the the things that really, really irritates me is rustling plastic bags, I got all my kit ready for the morning. I picked out my clothes, sorted out my meds, and got things into a state where I could get them out of the locker easily in the morning.

Then I lay on the bed and played solitaire until lights out, which must have been about eleven.

If I’d had any doubt last night, I am the oldest in the dorm, and possibly in the building. I really feel like I’m crashing the kids’ sleepover.

I was tired, but it took a while for my brain to shut down. After walking for hours during the day, I got off to sleep despite the whispering and gentle snores of someone else in the dormitory.

I am very glad that I remembered my sleep mask, because it’s not dark enough for me: I need the utter black of a sealed tomb to sleep!

I woke about half-seven. It was light and there was whispering and the loud rustle of plastic bags, my hackles rose like the effect of nails on a blackboard.

I wanted to get up and get out at a more reasonable time this morning, so I didn’t wait until the dorm was practically empty before getting my kit and heading for the shower.

The first problem after showering: how to dry one’s feet in a mixed dorm! The only solution I could think of was the return to the relative privacy of the bed, where at least the height would offer to preserve my dignity.

Once dressed, I hopped off the bed and headed down to reception.

The same gorgeous young man who greeted me yesterday morning was there to take my money for breakfast. I don’t really go for younger than me, but there are exceptions. He had the most beautiful curly dark brown hair and deep brown eyes that I could drown in.

This time my Spanish was a little better. I guess it will improve with use. I feel too shy to practice my Duolingo much at the moment, but what better way to learn that to actual do?

And now to plan the day!
