Two little updates.
The drains are being fixed on the house insurance. They have already made some repairs, but will be back over the next couple of weeks to finish things off. At least my “little brown fishes” are heading out to sea again.
The insurance company is also paying me £750 because their communication was – ahem – shit.
The sense of relief I feel is immense! And I didn’t know I was carrying such stress until it was gone.
The other little update is a health one: I cycled to work for the first time since my heart attack last August.
I used the heart rate monitor on my smart watch to stop me from staying above the zone for too long (the cardiac rehab nurses had said that spikes were OK, but don’t stay above it for too long).
The difficult thing about cycling to work is that its uphill for the first twenty-five minutes, and then downhill for the next five. So I am out the door and heading up when my body still hasn’t quite woken up.
Despite the heat, I didn’t overheat, and it didn’t take much longer than usual.
Coming home is ten minutes uphill, then fifteen downhill. You got it: there is an unavoidable hill. At least in the evenings my body is awake!
This is a major milestone for me – I have missed cycling. One of the reasons I chose this job was because I could cycle commute.
And it makes me feel a little bit more like me.
