Stolen Valour

False Prophets

People who post fake images of castrated guys without making it clear that what they are posting is a photoshopped fantasy worry me greatly. Becoming a eunuch is a serious and lifelong commitment; providing information that makes the transition seem easy and that life after castration is simple could lead some guys to make a decision that they might regret.

There are a lot of very happy eunuchs, these are relatively easy to find; there are an unknown number of unhappy eunuchs.

My blog is an honest account of my transition; I am one of the happy eunuchs (at the time of writing!), however my journey has had a number of difficulties and trials.

Living a Fantasy

There are people online who pretend to be castrated themselves; is this worse than posting up fake images? Maybe.

The thing is, that I know a number of trans girls and the only way they can live as trans girls is online. They have no other way of expressing their identity. I think it may be the same for some wannabes, that they cannot afford or get access to safe means of castration, so living the life online might be their only way to express their eunuch identity.

So what is the problem?

If these guys start encouraging others to get castrated, or profess knowledge that they do not have, which could appear to be a piece of the puzzle that persuades somebody to part with their testicles!

So what?

I believe in “informed consent”. That a person who is not insane should have the right to do what they like to their bodies – including ending their life.

There should be appropriate “friction” (in the software world, “friction” is used to describe how easy a process is; activities that have low consequence have little “friction”; activities with high consequence have a lot of “friction” – for example you might be asked to enter your password, or click a confirm button or two, or maybe maybe wait a period of time before being able to complete the operation).

In the UK:

  • Trans people have way too much “friction” in order to get the surgery they require.
  • Terminal patients cannot legally end their own lives.
  • There is zero friction for a boob job.
  • There is no legal way to be voluntarily castrated.

There is a long way to go before the UK will accept a relaxed and more sensible route to gender reassignment/modification surgery, and it’s not going to made any easier if guys are choosing surgery or body modification based on bad advice/invalid information.
