Testosterone and running

I’ve just been for my morning run, on a Saturday rather than Sunday because I didn’t have any sleeping pills (which are my usual Friday night treat), so I shall take one tonight. I find it much harder to get up in the morning after taking a sleeper.

Usually, on Friday and Saturday mornings I take two pumps of Testavan so that I feel more inclined towards “getting jiggy with it” for my husband. However, there’s been very little “getting jiggy” of late, so I decided not to take extra yesterday (Friday), and I don’t take my T Gel before I run anyway.

This means that I have just run 8.5km on a single pump from yesterday. Which is exactly the same distance as last weekend on two pumps of T Gel (Friday and Saturday – I ran on Sunday) and today’s run had more of a climb to it.

This is interesting because I had assumed that my increase in performance weekend-on-weekend was due to my exercise being after two days of increased testosterone. It seems that may not be significant.

Clearly, the difference between no testosterone and one pump (which is half a dose) is enormous. The difference between one pump and two pumps (which would be a whole dose for me) doesn’t appear to be nearly as significant – possibly even irrelevant.

I believe that I do feel hornier after two pumps of T Gel, but I wonder whether that is also psychological rather than real?
