Am I starting to work this out?

A decent enough sleep last night under the blanket to begin with then under the duvet after I woke up in the night. I was up early enough to go to the gym this morning.

I did the same circuit I’ve been trying to do for the past couple of weeks. On both of this morning’s circuits, after the first set of squats, I felt very faint and very light-headed. I had to take a quick break, walk up and down a bit, and then I was able to get on the rest of the routine. I am definitely not as fit as I used to be: I used to be able to do 20 push-ups; I now struggle to do one two or three. However that is an improvement on a few weeks ago. Recovery is slow without testosterone, but it is happening.

I think the B vitamins and supplements are helping, however having to take them first thing in the morning means they don’t have time to work before I go to the gym. I do think that I’m feeling a little more focused and energetic during the day.

I think the lack of hormones and the use of supplements is changing me from being a morning person to an evening person; I think this may be because without my body building testosterone over night that I’m reliant on the B vitamins that I take in the morning, and they take a while to get into the system. So they’re not ready for my early morning exercise, but they do start to kick in mid-morning … at least, that’s my theory.

B vitamins are water soluble, so it’s not easy to take an overdose as the body just wees out any excess. Any excess B vitamins may turn my wee a bright yellow; if that happens, then I can safely reduce the amount I take, or maybe spread them out over the day. Spotting this is harder when you have blue water in the toilet (no I don’t have porphyria, it’s a block of colour to make the loo water look nice).

Here’s a way to perform a visual test of urine when the toilet water isn’t clear (assuming that you have a white bathroom suite and white toilet paper). Place some sheets of toilet paper around the bowl of the toilet and wee on that. It should be quite easy to see whether the urine is yellow. If one is taking too high a level of certain kinds of b vitamins, it will be a bright and vivid yellow, rather a dark yellow. A dark yellow or orange indicates possible dehydration.

Maybe I’m starting to get the hand of this low testosterone thing … if only I could perform for my husband!
